Saturday 2 February 2013

Well, it sure didn’t take long for February to appear. I could swear each year gains in speed. So far I’ve played two gigs. The first being a fantastic night at CafĂ© Infinity, Stockton On Tees, courtesy of GNT Media-Tees Valley, who have combined art and music in a most pleasant of settings overlooking the River Tees. It was a gig that will live long in the memory and it’s always a pleasure to share the bill with other talented local performers. The second gig was at The George (formally Legends Bar), again in Stockton On Tees. The pub has had a remarkable makeover and now provides another cosy setting for excellent local singer/songwriters and hosted by Nouvelle Musique.

As I have mentioned a considerable number of times in the past, my new album ‘Rise’ and the best of album ‘Tide’ are finished, apart from the mastering and manufacturing side, but I need to be patient and release them when the time is right (i.e. when I can afford some professional promotion and marketing). As for my other planned release ‘Interpretations’, an album of stripped down covers, the recording has been going well and I have only to record the vocals. It’s been nice working on something a little different and I‘m really looking forward to it‘s completion.

Straying entirely away from music, I’ve become completely hooked on the American crime series ‘Dexter‘. How come it’s taken me so long to discover it’s existence? It’s dark, addictive, witty and brilliantly written, as well as engagingly  acted out by it’s entire cast. I’m already halfway through series four but gutted at the rumour that the forthcoming eighth series will be the last. There are sadly very few series that captivate me like this, the last ones being ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Ashes To Ashes’ and ‘Life On Mars’ (…ooh, and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm‘ if that counts).

Anyway, my next gig will be at the Mink Tattoo Coffee Bar, Middlesbrough, on 14th February, as part of the Scouting 4 Mink sessions. Hope to see some of you there.

Until next time, bye for now and thanks for your support.
